York Racecourse Southern End Redevelopment

As one of the world’s premier horse racing venues, we were proud to be part of the design team for York Racecourse’s latest phase of redevelopment. The transformation of its Southern End aimed to improve the visitor experience and turn this underused space into a destination.

The Southern End has been enhanced through the creation of a series of lawns, terraced spaces, a central canopy and the full refurbishment of the 1913 Bustardthorpe Stand. The brand-new Roberto Bar Pavilion, along with improvements to catering and toilets, provides exceptional facilities.

PWP Design’s role was focused on detailed/construction stage design of the public realm and hard landscape, collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team, contractor (Lindum Group) and York Racecourse, to ensure the details delivered the original design vision and flowed from previous stages of the masterplan.

Regeneration Case Study: Olive Lane, Waverley

In 2025 we celebrated the opening of Olive Lane, which was delivered by Harworth Group at their flagship Waverley development in Yorkshire. Olive Lane is the ‘heart of the community’ with a vision to join together the Advanced Manufacturing Park and residential development at Waverley, through high quality commercial, community and residential uses. Our public realm and landscape design helps create a vibrant, welcoming, community focused place, featuring the high street, a central plaza and pocket parks. The launch event was attended by over 1,000 Waverley residents, which brought the street to life.

"PWP Design delivered an extensive and inspiring design guide and sketch design, transcending our own expectations of what was possible with our limited budget. Simon Hall's knowledge, enthusiasm and ever-present support has been a breath of fresh air and we are extremely thankful for his contribution to the project."
