About us

PWP Design was launched by Simon, Adrian and Ian in 2015. Our story began at the Leeds Metropolitan University Landscape Architecture studio as first year students in 1995.

Simon Hall

Simon Hall CMLI (Director)

Design Director Simon is heavily involved in every PWP Design project. He has vast Landscape Architecture experience and brings our clients imagination and skills for any type of project.

Since founding PWP Design in 2015, Simon has developed a diverse portfolio and is proud to have grown the practice. His collaborative, playful design approach flows through our work and the whole team. Simon promotes the transformational value of temporary and pop up landscapes to help reinvent the high street, attract activity and support local businesses. He challenges our clients to think differently about landscape and has designed pop up installations and public realm schemes for Newcastle City Centre, Leeds Dock, Spark:York, Bloom Festival York, Rotherham Town Centre and Sleaford Town Centre. Simon contributed to a Financial Times article providing expert garden design advice and is an active writer on LinkedIn, including thoughts on the future of the high street and the role of Landscape Architecture post Covid-19.

Prior to setting up PWP Design, Simon spent five influential years working in Chicago USA, specialising in creating riverside parks, streetscapes and healing landscapes. This was followed by ten years at a private practice in Leeds, with his designs built at MediaCityUK, Leeds Dock, Worksop Market Square and Northumberland Park. He also designed the Welcome to Yorkshire Rhubarb Crumble and Custard Garden, which won People’s Choice at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
