Rejuvenating York
pocket park

College Green

We won a design competition to rejuvenate this underused pocket park, located by the iconic York Minster. Our role continued to develop concept designs, planning stage proposals and detailed designs on behalf of York BID, Bloom and York Minster.

The final design showcases a sculptural stone feature echoing the form of the Minster’s Great East Window, playful stepping stones, wildflower meadow drifts, lawns for pop up events, and new timber seating and planting.

Our Design Director

Simon Hall

"As a York resident, it’s a joy to be involved in such an incredible project, set within the context of York Minster. Our creative team of designers have worked with York BID and York Minster throughout the process to develop a scheme that can help College Green fulfil its potential as a unique, family-friendly place for contemplation and enjoyment. Green spaces are so important to city life and our communities, and I can’t wait to see this space in use. Thanks to everyone who has been involved and contributed to help make this happen, a truly collaborative effort"

"PWP Design delivered an extensive and inspiring design guide and sketch design, transcending our own expectations of what was possible with our limited budget. Simon Hall's knowledge, enthusiasm and ever-present support has been a breath of fresh air and we are extremely thankful for his contribution to the project."
